Don't Miss It!

OUR STORY

FIRST MET

Both being Rutgers students almost done with the semester, we were separately attending the annual Rutgersfest concert, with headliner Third Eye Blind. Chris was hanging out with our mutual acquaintance, Caolan, and when Caolan offered Amanda and her friend free food we decided we couldn’t pass that up! We watched Third Eye Blind together, and ended up hanging out and chatting for a good part of the rest of the night. By the morning Chris had already emailed Amanda asking to hang out again.

OFFICIALLY DATING

After a whirlwind of finals and senior week events together, Chris asked Amanda to go out to eat at Chili’s. There, Chris officially asked Amanda to be his girlfriend, and she happily accepted (after a bit of teasing for being so formal).

ADOPTED PENNY & DR CLAW

Chris wanted a brother-sister pair of cats, so we went looking around the local shelters for some kittens. We wound up one afternoon at a Petco that had a rescue organization present with pets to adopt. It turned out to be the same rescue organization Amanda had adopted her dog from almost twenty years ago. We found a brother sister pair that fell asleep in our arms while we were in the store, and decided to give them their forever home. They’ve been filling our lives with purrs, drool, and “squeaky bike” meows ever since.

OUR FIRST TRIP

Our first big trip together, we took a Celebrity Cruise to Jamaica and Grand Cayman. Chris decided to take his own route on Dunn’s River Falls and we made it to the top alive! On board we enjoyed relaxing by the pool and making friends with our dinner table mates, enjoying whiskeys on the back of the boat at the end of the night.

ENGAGED

It was the Dougherty annual camping trip to World’s End State Park. Amanda had been coming along for the past four years. It had become a tradition for us to take a hike up the mountains, and take a picture among some hemlock trees on the way down. During our annual photo, Chris got down on one knee and popped the question! Amanda’s response? “Uhh….yeah!”

AND TODAY... WE ARE GETTING MARRIED
